Celebrate the Arts in Caswell County!

THE VISUAL ARTS!

Caswell celebrates the visual arts year round – through an annual series of exhibitions, juried shows for adults and students, and a ‘Permanent Collection’ of artwork in a variety of different mediums !

THE CASWELL GALLERY PROGRAM

Since 1979, the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS – in association with the Caswell County Civic Center – has been presenting a series of art exhibitions by local, state and regional artists working in a variety of different mediums.  Exhibited throughout the year in the Lobby-Gallery of the Caswell County Civic Center in Yanceyville, North Carolina, the Caswell Gallery Program provides both exhibition and sales opportunities.  Most exhibitions open with a reception, which are FREE and open to the public

Selected by a review committee from slides and portfolios, or by special invitation, the Caswell Gallery Program exhibits adult artists in both solo and group shows.

For complete information about the Caswell Gallery Program, or to submit slides and/or portfolio for consideration, please call 336 694-4591 or contact us at ccarts@caswell.k12.nc.us .

THE CASWELL GALLERY PROGRAM EXHIBITION SCHEDULE

ANNUAL JURIED SHOWS

Each October the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS sponsors an ANNUAL JURIED ART SHOW for adult artists working in two-dimensions, with professional judging and significant cash awards, often including 'Purchase Awards' for pieces to be included in the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS' 'Permanent Collection.' Caswell's ANNUAL JURIED ART SHOW is open to artists from throughout North Carolina and Virginia.

Each Spring, the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS sponsors the ANNUAL STUDENT ART SHOW for Caswell students in grades K-12, recognizing and rewarding the efforts of young people from throughout the county working in both two and three dimensions.  A month-long exhibition, professional judging and cash awards are part of an on-going effort to inspire and encourage achievement in the visual arts.

The ANNUAL STUDENT ART SHOW opens each year with an Awards Program for students, parents, teachers and school administrators, and incorporates the Caswell County Schools' SUPERINTENDENT'S ART AWARDS, also for grades K-12.  The Awards Program is FREE and open to the public.

For additional information, please call us at 336 694-4591.  Guidelines for both Junior Division (Grades K-5) and Senior Division (Grades 6-12) may be downloaded here.

Other juried shows, for three-dimensional artists, photography, quilting and needlework, are presented from time to time, but are not now on a regular schedule.  Please contact us at 336 694-4591 or ccarts@caswell.k12.nc.us with inquiries.

THE PERMANENT COLLECTION

The CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS maintains a ‘PERMANENT COLLECTION’ of artwork in a variety of different mediums by local, state and regional artists. Acquired over the years by purchase, ‘Purchase Awards,’ gifts, and bequests, the Caswell ‘Permanent Collection’ features the work of one of North Carolina’s most outstanding artists – and Caswell County native – Maud Gatewood, along with many of the area’s other distinguished artists.

Selections from Caswell's 'PERMANENT COLLECTION' of more than 140 pieces are exhibited in the Lobby-Gallery of the Caswell County Civic Center during the Summer, and are displayed throughout the Civic Center building on a rotating basis.  Other selections may be viewed at the Old Caswell County Courthouse on the Square, the Caswell County Schools' Bartlett Yancey Administration Building at 319 East Main Street Yanceyville, in the Guidance Center of Bartlett Yancey High School next to the Civic Center, and at the new Caswell County Senior Citizens Center, at 649 Firetower Road in Yanceyville.

When not otherwise committed, the collection is available for loan at no charge to Caswell based schools, public agencies and non-profits with suitable display space.  The entire collection, or customizable selections from it, are available as a 'Touring Exhibition' to non-profit agencies and organizations outside Caswell County for a modest fee.  Please contact us for details at 336 694-4591 or ccarts@caswell.k12.nc.us .

The CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS invites donations and bequests of artwork for inclusion in our 'PERMANENT COLLECTION.'  Donations to the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS are fully tax-deductible within the limits of the law, and we are happy to assist with obtaining appraisals.  For details or assistance, please contact us at 336 694-4591 or ccarts@caswell.k12.nc.us
