CASWELL ARTS COUNCIL OFFERS THOUSANDS IN GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS!
Caswell County's non-profit community arts organization, the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, makes thousands of dollars in grant funding available to the community each year.
GRASSROOTS ARTS PROGRAM GRANTS
The GRASSROOTS ARTS PROGRAM is funded by the North Carolina State Legislature through the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency. The GRASSOOTS ARTS PROGRAM provides funds to non-profit agencies and organizations planning and implementing programs in the fine and performing arts, which includes the visual arts, architecture and the visual environment, traditional or folk arts, music, dance, theatre, film and video, creative writing, and photography.
ANY incorporated non-profit with a legal address in Caswell County, including schools and churches, is eligible for funding. Funds awarded will generally not exceed 50% of the projects' total cost, up to $500.00, and must be matched dollar for dollar either in cash and/or in-kind services.
Guidelines, applications and final report forms are available from the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS at the Caswell County Civic Center; by mail at P. O. Box 689, Yanceyville, NC 27379; online; or may be requested by phone at 336 694-4591. The application deadline for the 'First Round' of GRASSROOTS funding is normally late September or early October. A 'Second Round' of funding from the GRASSROOTS ARTS PROGRAM is available in January, with application deadline normally at the end of the first full week of January. Please refer to the downloadable 'Guidelines' below for exact dates this year!
A FREE workshop on how to prepare a GRASSROOTS grant proposal and project budget is normally held each September. While not required, it is strongly recommended, as applications are competitive, and incomplete or inaccurate applications/proposals are NOT considered for funding.
For assistance or further information, please call 336 694-4591 during normal working hours, Monday through Friday.
Scholarships
Your local arts council, the CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, also annually makes funds available to Caswell County residents of all ages to pursue an interest in the arts. Both students and adults may apply for up to 50% of the total cost of arts-related classes, workshops, seminars, and summer programs, etc. Limited funding does NOT permit scholarships for full-time students at institutions of higher learning however. Please download guidelines and application here, or call us at 336 694-4591 for additional information.
Regional Artist Grants
The CASWELL COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS is a member of the CENTRAL PIEDMONT REGIONAL ARTIST HUB PROGRAM, coordinated by the United Arts Council of Greensboro. Funded by the North Carolina Arts Council and matched locally by participating counties (Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Randolph and Rockingham), the CENTRAL PIEDMONT REGIONAL ARTIST HUB PROGRAM annually offers a limited number of grants to residents of these counties to further their development as professional artists at any stage in their career.
Eligible artistic disciplines are music (both classical and contemporary), dance, visual arts (painting, photography, sculpture and pottery), film/video, drama, and literature. Applicants must submit samples of their work and provide a narrative description of career development plans. Grant recipients are required to sign a contract and file an evaluation at the completion of their project.
